The Secret of the Four Birds

I had the chance to design the cover of an adventurous kids novel. It's the first volume of a detective series, in which Kiki and Gerda, the main characters, solve mysteries together. The artwork is based on a hand-drawn sketch, but the finished piece is digital, using different kinds of brushes. I wanted the style to be cartoonish, thinking about my favourite animations as a kid, I also used darker colours to set the spooky mood for the story. The illustration runs all the way to the back cover, which is my favourite kind of layout for a children's book. I think it is important to hide details and secrets for kids to find out, as they get caught up in the story. The illustrations inside are small birds or objects, which play key role in the events.
